"INDIA WINS THE BRONZE IN TOKYO"

India last won a medal in hockey at the Olympics in 1980 and thus had to wait for 40 long years to taste victory . Never underestimate India’s legacy in hockey as they have the best medal tally in the sport with a whooping 12 medals,8 of which are gold. Since 1928, when the Indian team won its first gold ; they have been dominating the game. So you can just imagine how painful the wait for the medal has been for the team and the entire country. But the Indian hockey team proved all their critiques and doubters with this incredible fightback as they cruised to the podium finish at the Tokyo Olympics.

Under the captaincy of seasoned player Manpreet Singh India won a thriller of a game against Germany, whom they beat 5-4 in the bronze medal match after being humbled by the Belgian hockey team in the semi-finals. India came into the quarters with just one loss in the group stages and a lot of confidence. They cruised to the semis with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Great Britain before bowing out to former world number one Belgium. But in the end all comes down to the raw emotions of the players , their coach, the staff and the entire country after they realised their dream of winning the medal. Wishing team India (hockey) all the very best for it's future endeavours and challenges .
